Halil Kale High School of Science which is the first high school of science on the district basis was founded and then donated to Ministry of Education by Halil Kale who is a volunteer from Turgutlu, and it started to function in 96-97 academic year.
The school which has a modern structure includes a pension and a management building. There are two dormitories, a mess hall and a laundry room in our pension. And also, our physics, chemistry and biology labs are equipped with adequate physical facilities that are not available in many other many schools. In addition, basketball and volleyball fields in our school garden provide the appropriate environment for the students to spend their spare time.
The first students of the school graduated in 1999 and in this year, the school became the 32nd successful school of Turkey in university exam with an average quantitative point of 169. Our school increasing its degree of success in university exam came second with an average quantitative point of 181 in 2001. In 2004, it came first on the basis of placement by a percentage of 96.6 while it came second with its total of 90 students by reaching an average point of 283,142. In the same exam, our school came first in Maths. 47 students from our school took university exam in 2005, and it could keep its success with an average quantitative point of 282,672. We hope that we will take place at top tree in Turkey.
Our school taking place at top five according to results of SBS has project works that are done under students' experts are in cooperation with Ege University, 9 Eylül University, High Technology University and Petkim. Every year, we participate in the competitions that are organized by Tubitak, MEF, Inventor and Investigator Association and Ministry of Energy. In 2001-2002 academic year, our Physics project came first in investigation projects of Modern Education Foundation and our Chemistry project received the 'jury special award'. In 2002-2003 academic year, our Physics project came firs and our Biology project came third in the same competition. Our Physics project came first again after one year, and we became the first school that could come first in Physics in each year for three times. Our Maths project came second in Ankara after it became a finalist in 2005 Tubitak Project Competition in Aegean Region. Our students' democratic, logical and reasonable wishes are satisfied by the school.
Our school manager, Tahsin BOZKURT says that our school's aim is to train students as honourable and permanent defenders of Atatürkist Thoughts and all of the good habits, traditions that keep alive this school every time. All obstacles have been overcome with the help of our school manages', students' and teachers' devotion, and we reached our previous targets. Now, the target is to be the best.
Our claim is that our students will always live with the pride of being students of Halil Kale High School of Science.
